Student workers are an integral part of Special Collections - so much so that the department would not function without you. This manual is designed to structure the learning that will happen during your time with us. We do not expect you to read the entire manual as a training, but instead, we will give you hands-on training over time in the areas covered in this manual.
Working in Special Collections is a continual learning process and has a steep curve at times. There also can be things that are counter-intuitive at times. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask us - even if it's the same question many times over! And the trite saying goes here: there's no such thing as a dumb question.
