Get It! Interlibrary Loan

Get It! is an Interlibrary Loan tool for requesting to borrow items from other libraries. 

If an item you need is not available at Southwestern, you may requests materials through Get It! Please put your request in as soon as possible. Get It! requests may take several days or longer to receive. To learn more about interlibrary loan and to place requests for materials please visit Get It!

Searching for Books

WorldCat (World Catalog) is an online library catalog that lets you look up books, dissertations, microform, journals and multimedia items in libraries around the world.   WorldCat allows you to search for materials in the Smith Library Center, as well as libraries around the world. 

To Search WorldCat, go to the Smith Library Center Webpage https://www.southwestern.edu/library/ and click "Looking for the Old Search" or visit: https://southwestern.on.worldcat.org/discovery

WorldCat has a Basic Search on the front page, which is very straightforward. Just click the tab for the type of item you want, and then enter the title, author or keywords you are looking for.

WorldCat also has an Advanced Search with many more options. To get to it, click Advanced Search under the search box on the front page. The features include:

  • Boxes to enter author, title, and keyword
  • Publication date range
  • Audience (children/youth or adults)
  • Content (fiction, non-fiction, biography, dissertation, etc.)
  • Format (book, ebook, journal, electronic journal, microfilm, etc.)
  • Language
