ARTstor is a database of high quality images of artwork, including a wealth of Mesoamerican and Andean artwork.
You can download individual images or use the ARTstor Offline Image Viewer to build a presentation, arrange and caption images, and deliver the presentation in the classroom. You can also use Artstor images for any class at Southwestern.
NOTE: Be sure to create a free account from a computer on Southwestern campus! Thereafter you can log in from anywhere.
Once you're on the search page, you have multiple options, including a basic search box, a link to advanced search options, and links for different browsing methods.
Oxford Art Online is a database of art history reference sources, including Grove Art Online, the Oxford Companion of Western Art, the Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, and more. You can search for articles and text, but it also has a great image database
To search for images, look for the "Search for images only" box in the middle of the homepage:
You can constrain your results to specified sizes, color schemes, and more. Be mindful of the pixel size, quality, and format of the image as well as source and copyright. Please see librarian Katherine Hooker with any image questions!
