WorldCat Account

Create an account by selecting the WORLDCAT sign in and it will take you to this page, for creating a new account. To create a WorldCat account, follow the "Create an account now" link near the bottom of the Worldcat@SU sign in page and fill out the relevant information.

A WorldCat account is NOT the same as a library account--you create and manage the account yourself, including the selecting of a username and password. You can use it to:

  • Lists:  Keep lists of useful or interesting items you come across in the catalog as you are searching, as well as follow lists created by other WorldCat users to see their updates (add items to lists on the search results page using the button near the top of the results list)
  • Saved Searches:  Use this feature to save searches you perform that return very useful or relevant results to avoid having to remember exactly how you got the results you did (use the "Save Search" button near the top of the results page to save a search)
  • Tags:  Tags are free-text subjects added by users to works in the WorldCat database that somehow describe what the works contain.  With your WorldCat account you can add tags to an item from that item's detailed record page in Worldcat@SU, and see the items you've tagged in your WorldCat account page.

Smith Library Center staff cannot retrieve a lost password or change anything related to your WorldCat account.
