English: Subject Guide: Cite sources / MLA style

MLA style for literary studies

MLA style is most commonly used to write papers and cite sources within the liberal arts and humanities, including the field of literary studies. Complete your research by correctly citing your sources, both print and electronic. By providing a citation you give credit to the authors of sources you used, and enable a reader of your paper to locate and verify these sources.

Although there are many tools available to help you with formatting citations, the most complete information is found in the handbook.
